Visiting program and Transfer to Norfolk

Anja Huth - March 22, 2016

At the beginning of our second day in Virginia we visited a mall near Tysons Corner. We had the possibility to go shopping in some famous american stores for example "Macy’s" or "Pottery Barn". After visiting the mall we drove to 'fairfax county-economic development authority'.

The institution provides interested people facts about the fairfax community. Fairfax county is a thriving business center which is located just west of the nations capital, Washington DC. Fairfax county has a large, diversified and dynamic economy. Madame Jatinder Kaur Khosla told us, that the majority of the jobs are in well-payed, highly skilled technical, professional and scientific occupation.

The talk was very interesting, especially because the opportunity is given to german students to do an internship in one of the companies for example "hp", "amazon web services" or "aerospace". In case anyone is interested, Madame Khosla sent a list with all the company-contacts. The presentation was well articulated and designed of our interests as students. Madame Khosla explained which phrasings are important to write into a good application letter.

After listening we started our journey to Norfolk. We drove around five hours . In the evening we arrived at our hotel near Old Dominion University campus.
